For the first excursion of 2019 Bryce is proposing to take us on a guided tour of Son Catlar.

There are three major Bronze age towns on Menorca. Torre de Galmes--above Son Bou Trepuco --stretching from the outskirts of Mahon to Trebaluger (badly destroyed during the French invasion of 1756) & Son Catlar outside Ciutadella

Son Catlar dates from the Bronze age but was hugely expanded during the 3rd & 2nd centuries BC. when a megalithic wall 870 metres long was built surrounding the town and defence towers were built.

Not yet excavated like some of the others, and not commercialized like Torre de Galmes this is perhaps the best time to see these work of Cyclopean magnitude

The site is not easy to find and the camino is very narrow in places therefore we propose hiring a mini bus.

With a maximum of 20 people only the cost would be 10 euros per person. After the visit we could, perhaps, stop at a restaurant for lunch by prior arrangement so indicate if you would like this.

Please telephone Bryce on 609 257 921 if you are interested by Friday 8th.

If there are sufficient participants then the final details, timings and pick up points etc will be sent.
