Menorca Britannia.

As you will all be aware all of us have been affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. Many of you , like us, will have had to shelve visits to, or visits from, family members and friends. We are all awaiting with fingers crossed for flights to be resumed and the 14 day quarantine periods in both Spain and UK are withdrawn.

In our specific case we have been unable to organise any of the events that had been proposed and were expected to happen since January. It is unlikely that for such events, visits, meetings etc, it will be next Autumn/Winter before an envisaged programme can be re-started.

Indeed we were forced to cancel our annual visit to the peninsular-- the Adventure in Bilbao and La March. This we are hoping to resurrect some time during November/March. The excellent voluntary work being performed by members and friends in schools and hospitals for many years was abruptly curtailed by the Consell Insular.

The Spring Fair in Es Castell could not take place. It is unlikely that the July Fiesta del Carmen (Blessing of the Fishing Boats) will take place in its normal form and therefore, for the first time in nearly 10 years we will not be organising the boat trip. which has become such a popular annual event.

The Annual MusikFest which, this summer, was destined to be the biggest and best has had to be cancelled, And so the list goes on. At this time we would normally be sending a reminder to you all that the annual subscriptions are due. However in these unusual times it has been agreed by the committee to give a subscription holiday until May/June 2021.

Your present membership cards will therefore be valid for a further 12 months. Should you normally pay by standing order please advise your bank not to pay this years quota. We hope, all being well, to advise later this Summer of a new programme which we envisage for next winter/sring and the proposed new dates of our Adventure in Bilbao/La Rioja. We are all awaiting a time when we can return to some semblance of “normality” and welcome our families and friends for visits and, of course, holday makers once again Meanwhile keep safe and well and we hope to be able to see you all soon..

Best regards The committee
