ASOCIACIÓN MENORCA BRITANNIA’S ANNUAL TRIP

With thoughts of culture and history, a change of scenery and, after the long hot summer---a fresher climate, members and their friends are looking forward to November and our trip to mainland Spain.

Following the success of the 4 days in Mallorca in November 2007, this year we are being a little more adventurous. With careful research we have put together a special and unique itinerary. With the advice and co-operation of our friends at Viajes Magon this enables us, over a 6 day period, to visit 3 of Spain’s very historic, cultural and beautiful cities and yet centred on one hotel in Segovia. We will also be visiting Avila and Salamanca.

Due to members enthusiasm the originally proposed limit on numbers has soon been reached and we have decided to increase the capacity a little. Therefore we can offer this “once only” opportunity of a few very limited places to friends of the Asociación with an interest in the history and culture of Spain. In fact several of our enthusiastic non-resident members are joining us direct from the UK.

Very briefly the itinerary includes,vis----

Day 1. Flights to Madrid departing on November 24th and returning 29th.
Coach transfers to Segovia (aprox. 60 minutes) and back.
Accomodation in the 3 star hotel Los Linajes on half board basis, A converted 11th century aristocratic house in the heart of the old part of the city and close to the famous Roman Aqueduct.

Included are four fantastic professionally guided excursions.

Day 2. Publos Serranos (mountain villages) a full day scenic excursion to include the famous Royal Summer Palace of San Ildelfonso founded in the 18th century by Philip V. its beautiful gardens and the National Museum of Tapestries. This is followed by a visit to the medieval walled village of Pedraza, virtually intact and exceptionally preserved. Following lunch taken here the journey continues via the Castillian village of Sepúlveda.

Day 3. A half-day excursion to the city of Ávila with its complete and majestic walls with guided visits to the main historic buildings

Day 4. Is a full day visit to the University city of Salamanca, boasting one of the oldest and most prestigious Universities in the world (founded in 1218), the two cathedrals and the famous 18th century Plaza Mayor.

Day 5 A two part (morning and afternoon with time for lunch between) guided walking tour through the magnificent city of Segovia with the stunning 1st century Roman Aqueduct and visiting and passing by many historic and architecturally renowned buildings

Day 6. After breakfast our return coach transfer to Madrid’s Barajas airport and flight to Mahon.

This is just a brief summary of this exciting and especially tailor-made trip. The full itinerary and reservation form is available to those interested from Menorca Britannia by telephoning Sheila on 971366206. or by e-mail.
